This year, the Philadelphia Eagles are getting a new center snapping the ball to Jalen Hurts, but longtime starter Jason Kelce will remain with the team. The 13-year veteran determined his career starting 167 consecutive games (including the postseason) and retired in March after spending his whole NFL career with the Eagles.
While the Eagles prepare for their first season with no Kelce since 2010, the future Hall of Famer keeps an eye on the team and was in attendance at Philadelphia’s rookie minicamp last weekend. There, he met rookie center Dylan McMahon, whom the Eagles chose in the sixth round of this year’s draft.
The Eagles selected McMahon with the 190th pick. Kelce was the 190th overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.
McMahon is unlikely to start this season, but he is a player Philadelphia can develop, particularly if Kelce is in the mix. McMahon stated that after their initial encounter last Thursday, he exchanged numbers with Kelce and the ladder provided counsel.
“We have that in common,” McMahon added, as stated by Dave Zangaro. “So we just spoke about football and who I’ll be facing on a regular basis in our division. He said to stay in the weight room. Your frame and body allow you to carry a lot of weight. There are locations to put on good weight, the two muscle and weight.
