After selecting Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell in the first round and trading in the second round to grab Iowa’s Cooper DeJean, general manager Howie Roseman and the Eagles secured two of the top players in a strong draft class at the position.

Cornerbacks James Bradberry and Darius Slay battled down the stretch of a seriously poor 2023 season, so aggressively upgrading at cornerback was most likely intentional. Philadelphia lost five of six games to end the regular season after losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card round.

Whether or if the Eagles consider dismissing Bradberry is likely dependent on Mitchell or DeJean demonstrating their worth in the starting lineup this spring and during training camp, especially considering the cap implications of such a bold decision.

According to Spotrac, dismissing Bradberry before June 1 would result in a $15.118 million dead-money charge, as well as a $10.813 million cap hit for the future season.
